The Best Hair Products For Balayage Hair
So you’ve finally hopped on the bandwagon of the balayage hair, have you? Welcome! As an owner of long balayage hair for 5+ years now, I know a thing or two about keeping it healthy and happy. Today I’m sharing the hair products and tools I use in my hair to keep my balayage lasting longer and looking healthier than ever! Ps. don’t forget to check out my balayage hair mini series!

1) Best Shampoo: ALTERNA® Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Shampoo, $32
After reading tons of my favorite bloggers rave over this shampoo, I had extremely high expectations. Not only did this shampoo meet those expectations, they greatly surpassed them! The first thing I noticed about this shampoo is the texture. I ADORE how thick this shampoo is (and how much it lathers!). A little bit goes a long way, so you don’t have to use a ton. It has a fresh and clean aroma that isn’t too overpowering. I can’t explain it, but this shampoo feels different than any other shampoo I’ve used. My hair feels clean after use, but not stripped of all oils. I love it. Absolutely worth the money.
2) Best Conditioner: ALTERNA® Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Conditioner, $32
If possible, this conditioner is even better than it’s shampoo other half. Once again, the product is thick and a little goes a long way. If I am in a pinch, this conditioner is great because I don’t need a leave-in conditioner with it! My hair is feeling silky smooth after I towel dry my hair. Seriously y’all, this dynamic shampoo and conditioner is a MUST TRY!
3) Best Hair Elastics: Scünci Clear Mini Poly Bands, $6
When working with Scunci this year I discovered their clear mini poly bands and fell in love. They are durable, but don’t pinch your scalp. They stay in place brilliantly and come in two different sizes! I’ve been using these clear elastics for nearly every hairstyle including braids. They’re extremely affordable so stock up – no one knows where elastics disappear to!
4) Best Dry Shampoo: Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo, $22
I’ve been experimenting with a few different dry shampoos this year and my favorite by far is Living Proof’s Perfect Hair Day. It has a fresh (but not overpowering) fragrance and doesn’t leave your hair feeling tacky. This dry shampoo woks wonders on my hair to keep it fresh in the Florida heat. The only downside is it leaves a white-ish residue, but I simply run my hand through my hair and it disappears!
5) Best Hairspray: Ouai Texturizing Hair Spray, $26
I have always struggled to find a good hairspray that holds curls (in the humidity) but doesn’t weigh my hair down. Ouai’s Texturizing Hair Spray is the product I find myself reaching for more often than not. I love how it gently hold my hair in place without looking like there is product in my hair.
6) Best Curling Iron: T3 Twirl Convertible Curling Iron, $185
While I personally prefer to use a curling wand when curling my hair, the best curling iron I’ve used in 2016 would be the T3 Twirl Convertible Curling Iron! It heats up insanely fast and curls even the most stubborn hair! I love how long lasting the curls are! I would highly, highly recommend this product to anyone who loves using a curling iron.
7) Best Hair Mask: Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Balm-To-Oil Pre-Shampoo Masque, $45
I received this pre-shampoo hair masque from Bumble and Bumble in the mail and loved it right away. Unlike other hair masks, you put this product in your hair before shampooing. Let it sit for 20 minutes and then jump in the shower! It will quickly melt off your hair. Shampoo and condition as usual. When drying your hair you will notice instant softness! I use this hair mask 2-3 times a month to keep my hair happy and healthy!
8) Best Hair Clips: Drybar Hold Me Hair Clips, $16
If you have a lot of hair like me – you will love these hair clips! They’re super sturdy and hold a ton of hair! I like to use these clips when I’m creating an undo or braiding my hair. You can also use these clips to section your hair off when curling and/0r straightening it for better results!
9) Best Hairdryer: T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i, $250
This is by far the best hair product discovery I’ve made all year. THIS HAIRDRYER ROCKS. The first time I used it, I noticed a massive difference in the texture of my hair when dry (aka it wasn’t an afro). My hair dries so much straighter and less frizzy when using this hairdryer! I asked my mom to use it to see if she noticed a difference with her hair as well, and let’s just say she’s begging me to get her one! It’s quite pricey – but I promise you will see a noticeable difference in your hair. I even ordered the travel size version to use when I vacation!
10) Best Leave in Conditioner: Keratin Complex Vanilla Bean Conditioner, $10
If you want your hair to smell like heaven, use this leave in conditioner! My hair is bleached, so it needs extra TLC. I use this leave in conditioner after every shower and it leaves my hair feeling healthier and stronger! It smells so divine I’ve received compliments asking what fragrance I’m wearing! Hey Keratin Complex, can you make this into a perfume ASAP?!
11) Best Brush: Wet Brush, $9
If you don’t use the wet brush what are you doing with your life. I discovered this brush when on a vacation with Ashley Brooke and had forgotten my hairbrush. I asked to use hers and she handed me this piece of magic! My hair is insanely long and is always tangled after a shower. This brush ran through my hair perfectly without snagging once! After returning from the trip I ran to the nearest Target and picked one up – in pink of course!
12) Best Straightener: T3 SinglePass Luxe Straightening & Styling Iron, $180
Without a doubt the best straightener I’ve ever used is the T3 SinglePass Luxe Straightening & Styling Iron. The best!! It’s super cute, lightweight (perfect for travel) and instantly straightens even the most stubborn hair. My mom actually stole mine (and refuses to give it back) – so I am in need of another! Y’all you need this styling iron in your life!
13) Best Heat Protector: ALTERNA Haircare Caviar Repair Multi-Vitamin Heat Protection Spray, $30
I’ll admit I don’t use heat protector every time I curl my hair (mostly because I’m lazy) but when I do it’s this stuff! Smells incredible, feels incredibly lightweight and protects my hair!
14) Best Hair Tool Travel Kit: T3 Mini Miracles Set, $189
I adore this hairdryer and straightener so much I had to get the travel kit! I travel frequently and struggle with room in my suitcase (big surprise!) so these tools allow more room for all the other stuff I (don’t) need to bring! They are super cute and compact and have been a game changer on my last trips!
15) Best Anti-Frizz Serum: Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream, $37
I live in Florida where the humidity is cranked to 100% the majority of the year and THIS STUFF STILL WORKS. So, you know it’s good. It has a very subtle smell and isn’t too heavy on my hair. I use this during the most humid of days and I can see a noticeable difference in my frizz level!
16) Best Bobby Pins: Sally Beauty Supply Black Premium Bobby Pins, $13
Hands down the best bobby pins I’ve discovered are these babies! I found them 6 years ago and have been using them every since! They’re the only brand I know of that doesn’t bend and break. Plus, they come in back, bronze and gold! I am constantly buying in bulk because they seem to disappear on me!
17) Best Curling Wand: T3 Whirl Trio Interchangeable Styling Wand, $185
YOU. GUYS. Meet my bae, the T3 Whirl Trio Styling Wand. This product is without a doubt my ride or die curling wand. I fell in love with it the first time I used it. I love how it comes with 3 different sized barrels, so I can rock different hairstyles – from loose beachy waves to tight curls! Check out this post to see how I achieve 10 Minute Loose Curls!
