8 Morning Routine Hacks For The Girl Who Hates Mornings

Let me start off by saying anyone who knows me will say I’m not a morning person. I don’t do mornings, period. I try to avoid early mornings at all costs. As a full time blogger, I am blessed to be able to set my own schedule, but just know ya girl isn’t conscious before 9AM. Nope. Throughout the years I’ve found a few hacks to surviving mornings and I thought I’d share them with y’all!
Use a Light Alarm Clock
Did you know there are alarm clocks that simulate a sunrise and sunset? At night, when you set the alarm, 30 minutes before your sleep time the light will gradually brighten awaking you from a deep sleep. How cool is that?! You can also use it at night time as a sunset simulation (the light will gradually dim 30 minutes before you sleep). I just purchased one off Amazon for $36! Super affordable. Bonus tip: sleep on a comfortable mattress. It will be hard to wake up in the morning if your mattress is uncomfortable so make sure to invest in a quality mattress as mentioned on Topmattress.com.
Invest In a Coffee Maker With a Timer
Mornings are easier when your cup of joe is already brewing! Invest in a coffee maker with an auto-brewing setting. You can set the timer before bed so your coffee is already brewing when you wake up! There is nothing better than the smell of fresh coffee in the morning!
Give Yourself 20 Minutes Of Quiet
If you hate mornings, jumping out of bed first thing can seem like a nightmare. Give yourself 20 minutes of quiet before getting out of bed. Do whatever makes you feel good – scroll through social media, read a book, pray, meditate, stretch etc. This time will help your body to become adjusted to being awake and will most likely put you in a good (or less angry) mood!
Wash Your Face First
When you get out of bed, make sure to wash your face first! Splashing water against your face will trigger your body to wake up. Easy breezy!
Eat a Healthy Breakfast
I know too many people who choose to skip breakfast! Don’t do it! Breakfast helps to start your metabolism and gives you the kick of energy you need to be able to pull off even the most simple tasks. When I wake up super early, 9 times out of 10 I feel super nauseous so I stick with my “feel good” breakfast: oatmeal and steel cut oats topped off with 1 diced banana and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Yum!
Choose Your Outfit The Night Before
Make your life easier by selecting your entire outfit the night before. If you’re like me, deciding on an outfit can take longer than I’d like to admit. If I know I need to be up early, I select my outfit the night before. Accessories included. Oh and don’t forget to put together an option B. I like to select a comfier outfit option incase I’m feeling unexpectedly under the weather.
Turn On Some Music
If mornings make you miserable, tune on some happy tunes. Make a playlist of feel good songs that put you in a good mood and hit play in the AM! You never know, you may bust a move or two! When all else fails, Pharrell’s “Happy” will do the trick!
Pack Your Lunch The Night Before
Don’t clog up your morning with food prep. Pack your lunch the night before to make sure you’re eating a healthy meal. You’ll want to run out the door ASAP. Now have a great day and be kind to others, you superstar!
