4 Signs Your Eyebrow Growth Serum Is Actually Working
We’ve all bought a beauty product, used it religiously for a few weeks and then stared into the mirror wondering, “Is this actually doing anything?”. Brow serums can be especially tricky because growth happens gradually, so you might not notice the changes when you’re looking at your eyebrows every single day. If you’ve added a serum to your routine, here are four signs your brows might actually be making a comeback.
1. You’re Seeing Tiny New Brow Hairs
Baby hairs are exactly what you want to see. When using an eyebrow recovery serum, keep an eye on sparse areas, particularly around the tail, arch and edges of your brows. New hairs may initially look shorter, finer or lighter than the rest of your brows, so don’t expect them to immediately resemble your fully grown hairs. Instead of inspecting your brows approximately three inches from the mirror every morning, take a clear before photo and compare it with another photo several weeks later. It’ll be much easier to spot subtle changes.
2. Your Brows Are Starting to Look Fuller
Sometimes progress isn’t a dramatic wave of new hairs. Instead, you might notice your existing brows simply look a little fuller and less patchy. This is another reason progress photos are your best friend. Take them in similar lighting without brow makeup so you can actually compare. Look at the areas that normally require the most pencil or brow gel. If those little gaps aren’t quite as noticeable anymore, that’s a pretty exciting sign.
3. The Skin Around Your Brows Feels Good
Your brow routine shouldn’t leave the surrounding skin feeling angry. Pay attention to how your skin responds when you introduce a new serum. Ideally, the brow area should feel comfortable rather than excessively dry, flaky, itchy or irritated. If you experience persistent redness, burning, swelling or another reaction, don’t treat that as a sign the product is “working.” Stop using it and seek advice from a healthcare professional if you’re concerned.
4. You’re Using Less Brow Makeup
This might be the most satisfying sign of all. One day you do your makeup and suddenly realize you don’t need quite as much brow pencil as you used to. As sparse areas become less noticeable, your natural brow shape may start looking more defined on its own. You might find yourself doing a quick swipe of brow gel instead of your previous pencil-powder-gel-and-prayer routine.
Give Your Brows Time
Brow growth isn’t an overnight situation, so try not to judge a new routine after a handful of applications. Take a before photo, follow the product directions and check your progress periodically rather than obsessing over your brows every morning. Most importantly, remember that eyebrows are sisters, not twinsand they definitely don’t need to be perfect. The goal is simply healthier-looking brows that make you feel good, whether you love them completely natural or still reach for your favourite brow pencil every morning.
