Easy No Heat Hairstyle For Long Hair
Ever stumble upon hairstyles on Pinterest with over the top, super-sized braids?! Yes, they’re gorgeous, but don’t be fooled – most of these hairstyles include a massive amount of extensions. I’ve used extensions in the past, but they often leave me with a pounding headache. Nobody got time for that! Girls, I’ve found the secret to voluminous braids/twists… and it involves your real hair! Keep reading to find out how I achieved this super sweet side twist in 10 minutes or less. Enjoy!
Step 1: Pregame With High-Quality Hair Products
First off, volume begins with haircare. If your hair is damaged/dry/brittle, chances are your volume won’t hold throughout the day. Solution? Make sure you’re using haircare that nourishes your hair and leaves it silky smooth. You’ve probably heard of Redken hair products – growing up, I remember some variation of Redken shampoo and/or conditioner would be in my shower at all times. It was there for a reason – this brand knows the importance of healthy hair and how to achieve it! Redken recently launched their All Soft Mega line – intended to nourish severely dry medium to coarse hair. Nourished hair means gorgeous, voluminous hair! I’ve been using it for two weeks straight and my hair is softer than ever! A quick rundown: Redken’s All Soft Mega Shampoo and All Soft Mega Conditioner and both formulated with sacha inchi extract, aloe vera gel, cactus extract, and Redken’s exclusive RCT Protein Complex for maximum hydration and nourishment. My hair feels noticeably smoother and tangles less after usage! To lock in the moisture, I also apply Redken’s new All Soft Mega Mega Mask and let it sit for 3-5 minutes. This deep conditioner gives that extra hit of moisture and has lasting benefits of a care extender. No system is complete without a leave-in conditioner! I apply Redken’s All Soft Mega HydraMelt to towel dried hair to provide additional softness and shine. All four products are available at your local Hair Cuttery!
Step 2: Create Your First Twist
To begin, take a two-inch section framing your face and twist the top half. Make sure your twist is tight! Secure the twist with a clear elastic.
Step 3: Add Volume To Twist
Now it’s time for some volume! Begin at the base of your twist. Gently tug on the outer pieces of your twist. Work your way up the twist, creating as much volume as you want. A little tug goes a long way – so tug carefully!
Step 4: Gather The Rest Of Your Hair Into a Twist
Next, take the remainder of your hair and pull it to the side and create another twist. Make sure to include your first twist into the second twist, so it flows naturally. Secure with an elastic.
Step 5: Add Volume To Twist
Once again, tug at the outer pieces of the twist to add volume. Don’t worry about flyaways – this look is even cuter with some mess. Voila!
If you want to crank the cuteness factor to the max, add in some flowers or other fun hair accessories! For more information on the Redken All Soft Mega line or for a hair touch up, check out Hair Cuttery on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.
