The Best Drugstore Self Tanner
Keep reading to see how to achieve a gorgeous sunless glow – even when it’s still cold out
I have tried more self tanners than I can think of. I’ve tried drugstore self tanners, high end self tanners and more! I still find myself coming back to this amazing drugstore self tanner. It is super affordable and leaves the most gorgeous tan!
How I Apply Self Tanner:
Use an exfoliating glove all over your body.
Scrub the remaining self tanner off your skin prior to application. I do this in the shower. I use an exfoliating glove all over my body. It will also aid in removing dead skin cells for a smoother, even application of self tanner.
Apply cream to your body.
I then apply cream all over my body. It is important to moisturize your body prior to applying self tanner so it doesn’t dry it out (resulting in gross ‘crocodile’ looking skin. Make sure to let it set for 5-10 minutes prior to self tanner application.
Use a tanning mitt to apply self tanner.
I use a tanning mitt to apply the self tanner for a streak free, even application. Plus, it helps to keep tanner off my palms (no orange hands here!). Using circular motions I apply the self tanning mousse all over my body. Make sure to apply in front of a mirror so you don’t miss any spots. To reach difficult spots (like the center of your back) you can use this genius application.
Remove self tanner from trouble spots.
After about 10 minutes, I remove the self tanner off my elbows, knees and hands. These spots tan the fastest and will turn orange/ dark brown if left on for hours.
Apply loose powder to avoid friction
I use loose powder on all the places I would notice friction on my body. For example, my armpits, back of knees, under breasts, etc. That way, the mousse won’t budge while drying and you’ll feel less ‘sticky’.
Let tanning mousse sit for 4-8 hours
Depending on how tanned you want to be, leave the tanning mousse on your skin for as long as possible. I try to apply it before going to sleep.
Shower Off Tanning Mousse
Shower off all tanning mousse from your body. I gently remove the mousse with body wash.
Apply Moisturizer
After you rinse off the tanning mousse, make sure to moisturize to lock in your tan and make it as long lasting as possible!
