How To Upkeep & Curl Balayage Hair

Ah, balayage hair. The most easy to maintain (hello 2 hair appointments a year!) yet one of the most delicate hair. For a refresher, balayage hair is the process of free hand painting highlights onto the hair. This creates a soft and ‘natural’ look of sun lightened hair. To create balayage, bleach is painted into the hair. Ie. your hair is lightened and fried at the same time. Cool. It’s important you baby your hair if it contains any bleach whatsoever.
Hair Prep:
I typically wash my hair once every 3 days (don’t worry, I shower in between!). I actually prefer my hair best on day 2, when my curls have loosened and I have that bedhead look! When I shower, I use this shampoo and this conditioner. This shampoo and conditioner duo is more expensive than most, but oh does it work wonders! If these are out of your budget, I would highly suggest this shampoo and this conditioner for bleached and damaged hair! I honestly believe this is the best smelling shampoo and conditioner on the market. I would 100% purchase a perfume with this sugary sweet aroma! Since my hair has damaged ombre ends, I always ALWAYS apply a leave in conditioner after my shower. I use a few different leave in conditioners including this one (my favorite – smells like vanilla!). I dry my hair using this hairdryer. It is an absolute game changer as my hair dries silky smooth and straight! It is worth the investment in my opinion. I will be doing a full review on this hairdryer – stay tuned!
10 Minute Curls:
To curl my hair, I use my ride or die styling wand. I take half inch sections of my hair and wrap the hair around the barrel away from my face. I get a completely different look if I curl my hair towards my face – and I don’t like it at all! I leave the hair on the wand for 4-5 seconds, then gently let it loose. I start at the hair closest to my face and work my way back until I reach the back of my head, then start on the other side! When using this wand, the curls hold so well I don’t even need to use hairspray or any setting spray!
This look will last me 3 days without any touchups! I sleep normally with my hair down and the curls will always stay in tact, however they will get a bit looser every day. I live in Orlando, Florida the majority of the year and these curls last through the humidity! I call it T3 magic. I have never used another curling wand with similar results. Normally, when I use other curling wands my hair will stay put for a day at the most. This wand also curls my hair in half the time of other hands, meaning my poor damaged ends aren’t exposed to as much heat! This curling wand was worth every. single. penny. I promise you won’t regret this purchase, y’all!
Upkeep:
As I previously stated, my loose waves stay put for 3 days. To keep my hair fresh, I use dry shampoo on my roots on the 3rd (and sometimes 4th) day. I use this dry shampoo most often, because it’s cheap and it works!
