How To Find The Perfect Pair Of Jeans
Finding the right pair of jeans is tricky! Take a look at my go-to tips for finding your pair below.

I have a love/ hate relationship with jeans. I hate jeans… unless they’re super comfortable and they fit like a glove. I’m struggling in a pair of too tight skinny jeans as we speak and I’m downright miserable. They’re coming off the second I get home and will be thrown into the donation pile. When I find a pair of jeans that are actually comfortable I love them… and wear them nonstop. So what makes a good pair of jeans? Today I’m breaking down the top 5 methods to finding the perfect pair of (comfortable) jeans whether you’re shopping online or in store. Ps. my heels are on MAJOR SALE here!
1. Find Jeans With Stretch
The #1 tip to finding the perfect pair of jeans is ensuring they have the proper amount of stretch. If you see a pair of jeans are made of 100% cotton, run. D0n’t give them another second of your life. They will be stiff as can be and you’ll regret your decision immediately. To find jeans with the perfect stretch – make sure to look at the ingredients. Whether you’re shopping online or in store, you’ll want to look at the fabric description on the tag. You’ll want to look for jeans with more than 2% of one of the following: lycra, spandex and/or elastane. Lycra and Spandex are two different types of elastane, a synthetic elastic stretch material known for giving you the stretch you need to be mobile. Jeans typically have 1-4% of stretchy material. The higher the percentage of stretch, the more form-fitting and comfortable. Polyester is also a great material to look for. It’s more stretchy and durable than cotton! After looking at the fabric description, it’s time to try on the jeans! Jeans should have a little give – your movements shouldn’t feel constricted. Now for the fun part: time to wiggle around to ensure the mobility of the jeans. Jeans shouldn’t constrict your movements. You’ll want to feel comfortable while you bend your knees, dance, squat – the list goes on! If you feel fully mobile, they pass the test!
2. Find Jeans That Keep Their Shape
There is nothing worse than buying a pair of jeans that fit like a glove in the dressing room, then begin to sag after a few wears. Jeans that sag around the butt, thigh and knee area aren’t cute. You shouldn’t have to wash your jeans in hopes of them shrinking down to their regular size. Washing your jeans often will only wear the fabric and leave your jeans in rough condition. Here’s a rule of thumb: 100% cotton denim will always stretch. So once again, avoid them like the plague. Denim blends with elastane, lycra and spandex have a better chance of holding their shape. The best way to predict if jeans will holds their shape is to give them a test drive. Wear them around the house for 1-2 days and see if they lose their shape (without washing). If they do – be sure to return those puppies!

3. Find Jeans With The Perfect Rise
We are all attracted to different denim rises. Some prefer low rise, some mid rise and others high rise. I personally prefer high rise as they tend to stay in place better, while flattening my stomach. Ya girl doesn’t have rock hard abs (I like food too much) so this size 6 gal prefers jeans that smooth out my tummy! I also like my legs to appear extra long and high rise jeans make my legs look ultra long by adding a few extra inches of leg. If you’re short and/or long waisted, I’d highly recommend to wear high rise jeans to make your legs appear longer. This will make you look taller overall. Medium-tall and high waisted gals, you have more flexibility to choose from low- high rise, while still having the appearance of long legs!

4. Find Jeans That Compliment Your Butt
Let’s be honest, the best part about jeans is how they make your butt look. You know it, I know it, your partner knows it! Luckily I don’t need too much help in that department (bubble butt #ftw), but if you have a smaller/flatter behind you may want to find jeans that make it pop! Jeans with smaller back pockets will give you the illusion of a bigger behind. Also, stretchy jeans which hug your rear will give it an instant lift! Make sure your jeans don’t sag in the behind as that will automatically make your behind appear (you guessed it) saggy! No thanks!
5. Find Jeans You Feel Good In
Ultimately, the most important tip is to find a pair of jeans that make you feel like a goddess. Whether they’re high cut, low rise, ripped jeans, straight leg, dark wash or light wash – the perfect jeans are those that make you feel like a million bucks. Those pair of jeans that make you stand a little straighter, look at strangers in the eyes and smile a little bigger are priceless. That’s how I feel in the pair of jeans in this post. I feel ready to take on the damn world. *snaps fingers*. Bonus tip: great jeans don’t have to break the bank. Some girls swear by $250 jeans, but not everyone has the budget for that. The jeans I’m wearing in this post are under $40 and I wear them all the time! If you’re on a budget – girl I got you! Here are some jeans (with 3%+ stretch) under $50 I’d recommend. Each pair of jeans comes with free shipping AND free returns (no time limit, receipt required).
