4 Easy Ways To Prevent Wrinkles in Your 20s

If you think you’re too young for anti-aging regimens – you’re mistaken. You’re never too young to start taking care of your skin and prevent wrinkles from forming. Luckily for me, my mom worked in the beauty industry most of her life, so I was taught in middle school the importance of quality skincare. Since then – I’ve come across vital anti-aging hacks that are actually super easy to implement into your daily routine! Some you’ve likely heard before, others may be new! Without further ado, here are 5 anti-aging skincare hacks:
1. Use Sunscreen On Your Face Every Day, No Exceptions
I always rolled my eyes at my mom when she insisted I wear sunscreen on my face growing up. But now at 27, with no sun damage or fine lines on my face – I owe it all to her! Whether you wear makeup or not – you NEED to wear sunscreen daily. Luckily, numerous moisturizers and foundations now come loaded with SPF. To make things super easy, opt for a SPF friendly moisturizer or foundation to save an extra step of sunscreen application!
2. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!
Excessive dry skin can lead to wrinkles, so make sure you’re applying a generous amount of moisturizer to your skin every day. Acne prone skin? Here’s where things can get tricky. It’s super easy to dry out your skin with products that promise to get rid of blemishes. Case in point: I had a breakout last week and completely altered my skincare to get rid of my acne. My skin completely dried out, cracked and started peeling. The cleanser and face masks I was using was too strong from my skin and stripped away all the moisture in my skin. So, be gentle with your skin. Maintain your usual skincare routine and add spot treatments to blemishes.
3. Don’t Forget Your Neck!
While we’re taught the importance of taking care of the skin on our face – we aren’t always told to extend this care to our neck. Plus, our generation’s nasty addiction to cell phones means our heads are constantly looking down, creating unwanted creases and folds in our neck! There is nothing more aging than a saggy neck, so make sure to apply moisturizer AND sunscreen to your neck!
4. Don’t Squint!
Ever catch yourself squinting? Repeated squinting can lead to crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles. If you notice you’re squinting more than usual, make sure to visit an optometrist as your vision may have changed. Growing up with horrible vision, I would catch myself squinting when reading the board in class, driving and watching movies. 9/10 it was because my vision had changed. When my perception changed, so did my squinting habit!
