Best Makeup For Normal-Oily Skin
So you’ve got normal-oil skin like me. Then you understand the struggle of trying to keep makeup on your face without it melting off. Enter hot weather and it’s really a struggle. Today I’m sharing my makeup picks (and accessories!) for my normal-oil skin. Enjoy!
1) Best Highlighter: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector® Pressed Highlighter Champagne Pop, $38
You guys – if you haven’t tried the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Highlighter in Champagne pop you need to reevaluate your makeup priorities! Created by the queen of beauty herself, Jacklyn Hills, this creamy highlighter will give you a fierce highlight! Comprised of soft white gold and pinky peach undertones, this highlighter will make your cheek bones pop girl!
2) Best Contour Palette: Hourglass Ambient® Lighting Surreal Light Palette, $80
I seriously cannot rave enough about this blush, bronzer and strobe powder palette. These exclusive Hourglass shades are universally flattering and give every makeup look a sun kissed glow. I carry this contour palette with me in my purse incase of an emergency contour session (it’s happened).
3) Best Liquid Eyeliner: Lancôme Artliner, $30
I am a liquid eyeliner snob and have tried nearly every black liquid eyeliner on the market. Last year I gushed over Makeup Forever’s Ink Liner, which still holds a place close to my heart. However, Lancome’s Artliner may top it for staying power. It tries incredibly fast and stays put all day long. My favorite drugstore liquid eyeliner at the moment is NYX Cosmetics Matte Liquid Liner, which retails for only $6! The quality is insanely close to Lancome and Makeup Forever – and I adore the applicator!
4) Best Blush: NARS Deep Throat Blush, $30
While I’m admittedly not the biggest fan of blush – I’ve reached for NARS Deep Throat more than any other blush in my collection in 2016. This blush compliments all skin tones and isn’t too overpowering. I love how I can use it year round on my summer sun kissed skin and winter white skin!
5) Best Foundation: MAC Pro Longwear Foundation, $34
Y’all I tried and I tried – but I couldn’t find a foundation that tops MAC’s Pro Longwear Foundation. Not only is it full coverage, it does not budge. Even in the Florida humidity! And don’t worry, it doesn’t feel tacky! If you have normal to oily skin – you need this foundation in your life!
6) Best Concealer: MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, $22
Oh hi, love of my life. MAC Pro Longwear Concealer will fully conceal any imperfection that comes your way. I also use this concealer as an eyeshadow primer, making my eyeshadow pop! This product is the perfect travel size – so I keep one in my purse at all times!
7) Best Makeup Bag: Baby, It’s Bold Outside Bag (on sale for $10!
I may be biased since my best friend from Canada bought me this makeup bag, but I believe it’s the cutest makeup bag on the market! It is lightweight, durable and stores all of my daily makeup essentials perfectly! Not to mention, it’s only $10!
8) Best Mascara: Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara, $29.50
I’m extremely picky when it comes to mascara! Unpopular opinion: I don’t like Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. I don’t get the hype at all – the fallout is horrible! However, I do adore Dior’s Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara. It lengthens and volumizes eyelashes brilliantly with virtually no fallout. I’ve also used Clinique’s Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara quite a bit this year!
9) Best Mascara Primer: L’Oréal® Paris Voluminous Primer, $6
After reading Dior’s Diorshow Maximizer 3D Triple Volume Plumping Lash Primer ($29.50) was the best mascara primer on the market, I was desperate to find a dupe. Not only did I find a dupe – I fond a mascara primer I like even better! The L’Oréal® Paris Voluminous Primer is only $6 and makes your lashes look SO much fuller!
10) Best Makeup Brushes:It Cosmetics All That Glitters Brush Set, $58
When I received these beauties in the mail from the IT Cosmetics team I did a happy dance! Not only do they seriously sparkle in person they are some of the softest brushes I own! I would absolutely purchase this set with my own money. IMO, it’s a great price for what you get!
11) Best Setting Powder: IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pressed™ Poreless Finish Airbrush Pressed Powder, $29
You know a setting powder is magic if it works in Florida (aka a permanent sauna). Take my word for it – this setting powder removes shine (cuter word for sweat) and prevents makeup from melting. A little goes a long way, so you don’t have to use too much product!
12) Best Eyebrow Filler: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade Waterproof Brow Color in ‘Dark Brown’, $18
I was lost until I met you. No seriously, this waterproof brow brow color is bae. It applies seamlessly and gives you total #girlboss eyebrows! It comes in several shades, so you can coordinate it with your current hair color/ skin tone.
13) Best Eyeshadow Palette: Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette, $54
Without a doubt, the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette is my favorite eyeshadow palette released in 2016. It’s impressive selection of 12 all-new matte neutral eyeshadows are to die for. I love how this palette contains a mixture of cool and warm shades! The eyeshadows are rich in color and have impressive staying power!
14) Best Makeup Storage: GLAMboxes Makeup Box, $199
My GLAMbox Makeup Box was one of the best investments I’ve made! I absolutely adore it’s storing capabilities. You won’t believe how much makeup you can store in that thing! I purchased this makeup box as I have an obscene amount of makeup, but this slightly smaller box is just as great! If GLAMboxes are out of your budget I recommend this almost identical dupe for only $50!
15) Best Lip Liner: MAC Lip Pencil in ‘Whirl’
I’ve tried endless lip liners and yet always come back to my ride or die: MAC’s Whirl. If you wear nude lipsticks often – you will get a lot of use out of this liner! Lip liner stays longer on your lips than lipstick, so this shade will make your nude lip last longer!
16) Best Lipstick: MAC Lipstick Velvet Teddy, $17
An oldie but a goodie. No matter what season or mood I’m in – I always find myself turning to MAC’s Velvet Teddy. This matte finish lipstick compliments every skin tone and makes your lips instantly appear larger – no lip fillers required!
17) Best Bronzer: NARS Laguna, $39
NARS Laguna remains my most used bronzer of 2016. The shade is gorgeous and works as the perfect contour! Diffused with golden shimmer, this bronzer creates a subtle sun kissed look. I use it year round – but apply extra in the summer!
Honourable mention: If you’re looking for a brush cleaner, I’d recommend this brush cleaning glove. I find it’s the easiest way to keep my brushes clean! Now that I’ve shared the best makeup in this Best of Beauty post, keep your eyes peeled for best of skincare products and hair care products!
