How To Wear Green Eyeshadow
Hello gorgeous! I have just returned from the stunning Esterel Resort in Quebec with my friend Marie. We spent the week in a suite with a private balcony overlooking the gorgeous Lake Dupuis and partook in several water activities (swimming, canoeing, paddle boarding, etc.) and I’m still in full mermaid mode. While there, I was able to snap a few photos of a mermaid inspired look I got with Luminess Air right next to the rocks on our private beach. I hope you enjoy this nautical look and incorporate it into your summer plans!
Makeup Tutorial:
Step One: Foundation
Mermaids have flawless skin, right? First, use your favorite foundation to even out your skin tone. I’ve been obsessed with this foundation for a light weight, full coverage look. It instantly removes all imperfections and stays put throughout the day (without the need for a touch up!).
Step Two: Contour + Highlight
If mermaids applied makeup, I’m 99.9% sure they would be all about that contour and highlight life. Contouring and highlighting gives the illusion of a slimmer face. First, apply your favorite bronzer under your cheekbones to give yourself chiseled cheekbones. I applied this matte waterproof bronzer beginning from my hairline and applying it towards my lips. Then, I applied a small amount to the sides of my nose to make my nose look smaller. Next up: highlight! Mermaids have glowing skin, so use a pearlized highlighter to add a bit of shimmer to your face. I used my all time favorite highlighter on the bridge of my nose, above my cheekbones and in the centre of my forehead to achieve the perfect summer glow.
Step 3: Eyebrows
Mermaid’s eyebrows are on fleek – always. Create the perfect brow using an eyebrow pencil to fill in your brows. I used this eyebrow pencil to fill in the sparse areas of my eyebrows. The spoolie brush on the end of the pencil is the perfect shape to brush out my brows and give them a more natural look.
Step 4: Eye Shadow
Now it’s time to take your mermaid inspired makeup to the next level. Mermaids are famous for their array of jewel toned colors (think purple, green, blue) so it’s time to pull out the fun eyeshadow hues. I used this eyeshadow palette! To begin, I mixed “blaze” and “weekender” and applied them underneath my eyebrow, in the inner lid and inner lower lash line. This gives the perfect highlight effect by brightening my eyes. Next, I applied “radio” and “big sky” to my lid and lower lash line. To achieve the most vibrant color possible, I first wet my brush and then dipped it into the eye shadow. I seriously adore these eyeshadow shades. I then applied “radio” in my crease to create depth.
Step 5: Eyeliner
To up the amp of this look, create a winged liner with black liquid eyeliner. I used my ol’ faithful liquid eyeliner to create a dramatic winged liner. If you prefer less drama, forget the liner and let the eyeshadow do all the talking.
Step 6: Mascara
Mermaids have luscious, long lashes. Duh. Lengthen and volumize your lashes with your favorite mascara. I’ve been using this mascara for the last few weeks – mostly because of its longwear and the densely bristled wand. It is both long lasting and water resistant (a must for all mermaids frolicking around the water!). I also applied false lashes for extra length. Feel free to skip this step if you have long lashes!
Step 7: Lipstick
Finish off the look with a nude lip. I’ve been living in this lipstick for the past few months. It’s a nearly identical dupe for MAC’s Velvet Teddy lipstick and it comes with a price tag that is pure magic (under $3!).
