Fall Inspired Smokey Eye Tutorial
An inside look at my go-to fall inspired smokey eye look.

I love fall for many reasons, but one is the shifting of natural/ sun kissed summer makeup looks to bold and dramatic fall looks! This girl isn’t afraid of a little drama (when it comes to makeup!) and for this reason I wanted to show you how to achieve a bold, yet wearable warm smokey eye for fall! I’ve always believed great makeup looks don’t have to be achieved using high end products, so I wanted to create this look using drugstore beauty finds only! I purchased all the makeup used in this tutorial at CVS Pharmacy, aka the secret land filled with some of the best drugstore makeup brands available from NYX to Maybelline! CVS Pharmacy offers a 100% satisfaction Beauty Guarantee on beauty purchases – so if you aren’t satisfied with your beauty purchases you can return them unopened or opened along with a receipt. Amazing! Without further ado, here is my fall inspired smokey eye tutorial!
Smokey Eye Step One: Highlight Your Eyes
For this look, I used my new favorite drugstore naked eyeshadow palette COVERGIRL’s TruNaked Nudes Palette. I am in love with the highly pigmented shades, which blend beautifully! To highlight, I used the first eyeshadow shade (on the left of the palette) in the tear duct of my eyes and brow bone (just below my brows). This helps to not only create dimension, but also make your eyes look bigger!
Step Two: Brighten Your Lids
Next, use a nude shade similar to your natural skin tone on your lid. Using COVERGIRL’s TruNaked Nudes Palette, I went in with the second shade (on the left of the palette) on my lid. This will create the perfect foundation for your smokey eye!
Step Three: Darken Your Crease
Next, use a dark brown shade in your crease. I used the third shade (from the right) of COVERGIRL’s TruNaked Nudes Palette and carefully blended it out. The blending process in this look is crucial – you don’t want to look overdone! You’ll want the edges of your shadows to gently and gradually blend into each other!
Step Four: Add sparkle!
To give this look a festive touch, add a nude shimmer to the inner portion of your lids. I used a combination of the third and fifth shade (from the left) of the COVERGIRL’s TruNaked Nudes Palette! Once again, make sure to blend out the edges!
Step Five: Smoke It Up!
Finally, use a dark brown eyeshadow underneath your eyes and at the outer corner of your crease! I first applied the first shade (from the right) of COVERGIRL’s TruNaked Nudes Palette underneath my eyes half way to my tear duct. For reference, apply the shadow from the outer corner of your eye to the middle of your pupil. Next, use the same color and gently blend it from the centre of your pupil to the outer crease of your eye (towards your hair!).
Step Six: Create a Winged Liner
Next, create a winged liner using black liquid liner. For those of you who are winged liner novices I have the perfect liner for you! L’Oreal’s new Voluminous Liner Noir is seriously fierce, with the most precise (and sturdy!) applicator I’ve used. You don’t have to worry about the liner bleeding into your skin with this formula!. This liner reminds me of a felt tip marker – it is SO easy to use! It is a must have for every makeup lover!
Step Seven: Finish Off With Mascara
To finalize this look – apply 1-2 coats of your favorite black mascara to your upper and lower eyelashes! I’ve been loving L’Oreal’s new Voluminous Feline Mascara in Black as the applicator makes it super easy to apply with less chance of smudging. I’ve also noticed there is next to no fallout with this mascara. It has quickly jumped to the top of my favorite drugstore mascaras!
There you have it! I added a bold lip to give this look an extra dose of drama. This look would be perfect for Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas parities or even New Years Eve celebrations! This look is super easy to re-create as all makeup used in this tutorial can be purchased at your local CVS Pharmacy.
