Everything You Need To Know About An Eyelash Lift
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted a full beauty review! My newest beauty endeavor is an eyelash lift. While I am a full-on fangirl for eyelash extensions, I haven’t had the time to keep them up! As such, I figured I’d give an eyelash lift a try at my favorite local spa HR Lounge (a sister company of Hair Republic). Today I’ll be sharing the cost of an eyelash lift, how long it lasts, if there are any side effects, if it’s worth the money and more!

What is an eyelash lift?
To put it simply: an eyelash lift is a perm for your eyelashes that creates list and curl for weeks. Your eyelashes are curled from the base of the lash to the tip so the full length is revealed. The process begins with your lash technician cleansing the eye area. All makeup and oils will be gently removed. Next, using an adhesive, a silicone curling rod is gently placed on your eyelid bordering your lash line. Your lashes are then curled over the rod and set with adhesive. Yes, your eyes will be closed the entire time. Next, a lifting lotion is applied to your eyelashes. The lifting lotion will mold the eyelashes to the shape of the curling rod. This sits on your eyelashes for about 12 minutes. Next, a setting lotion is applied which sets the lash shape into place for another 15 minutes. Finally, a nourishing lotion is added to add moisture back into the lashes.

How does an eyelash lift differ from eyelash extensions?
As gorgeous as eyelash extensions can be – they are quite the pain in the ass. The initial eyelash application takes about 2-2.5 hours and fills (every 4-6 weeks) typically take between 1-1.5 hours. That’s a lot of time invested. Eyelash lifts, on the other hand only take 40-45 minutes every 6-8 weeks. While eyelash extensions can cost $150-$250 for an initial set and $50-$75 per fill, an eyelash lift only costs typically $60-$100 every 6-8 weeks. Plus, you can’t wear mascara with eyelash extensions. You can with eyelash lifts. Eyelash extensions can weaken or break your eyelashes whereas eyelash lifts don’t damage your eyelashes.
Can I perform an eyelash lift on myself at home?
Absolutely. Not. Leave it to the professionals. You do not want to be putting chemicals on your eyelashes yourself. Or from your mom, BFF, etc. If you’re desperate for curled lashes, use an eyelash curler and apply your best mascara.
