Who doesn’t want to appear more youthful by creating the impression of BIGGER eyes?! As a small-eyed gal, I am constantly trying new techniques to make my eyes appear larger! I have finally found the perfect combination of quick and easy tricks to not only fake bigger eyes, but also complete any makeup look – no matter the season!
The first step to making your eyes appear larger is to contour your eyes. You may have heard of face contouring, but did you know you can contour your eyes? To contour your eyes, start with a highlighter in a pale white shade. Using a brush, apply this shade under the arch of your eyebrows. Made sure to blend out the shade with your brush. This will help to “lift” your eyes. Next, choose an eyeshadow one shade darker than your skin tone and using a brush, apply it into the crease of your eyelids. Again, make sure this shade is blended, giving it a natural look.
After contouring your eyes, it’s time to apply mascara! In order to make your eyes appear larger, it is important you choose a mascara that works to volumize your lashes. This month I’ve been loving Clinique’s Chubby Lash™ Fattening Mascara. With an oversized (chubby, if you will) volumizing brush, this mascara is built to transform lashes from thin and frail to bold and beautiful! In order to maximize volume, I apply a second coat of mascara to my lashes once the first coat has dried completely. I love how this mascara is virtually clump-free and intensifies my lashes! Plus, if you have sensitive skin like me, you will appreciate the ophthalmologist tested, allergy tested and 100% fragrance-free formula!
#3 Apply Mascara To Lower Lashes
In order for your eyes to appear large, mascara on your bottom lashes is a must! As mentioned in my 8 Makeup and Skin Care Hacks post, lower lash mascara is a very real product – and it’s a game changer in my beauty routine! Clinique has developed a Bottom Lash Mascara and I am officially obsessed. Rather than attempting to navigate an oversized mascara applicator onto your teeny tiny lower lashes, Clinique has created a mascara with an appropriately sized mascara applicator. Engineered to target your bottom lashes (and avoid your face), this mascara brush is pure perfection in a bottle. For an extra dramatic look, apply two coats!
#4 Apply Liquid Eye Liner
To finalize your look, extend the length of your eyes by applying black liquid eyeliner. Beginning approximately 1 centimeter away from your tear duct, apply the liner as close to your lash line as possible. Wing the liner out at the ends, in order to visually extend the length of your eyes.
