Who else swoons whenever they spot a great dutch braid on Pinterest? I’m guilty of this (see my growing hairstyles Pinterest board here) but they always seem too complicated to accomplish. After a quick in-person tutorial from my gal pal (and hair dresser) Kaley, I wanted to share how easy it is to create dutch braid pigtails! Keep reading for a step-by-step tutorial on how to create dutch braid pigtails!
Step One: Prep Hair With Quality Products
The best hairstyles are always accomplished after using quality hair products. If you have color treated or dry hair, it is even more important to provide your hair the nourishment it so desperately craves! Great hair starts with your shampoo and conditioner, so make sure to grab a duo packed with nutrients for your hair! I’ve been using Suave’s new Coconut Oil Infusion shampoo and conditioner. This shampoo and conditioner system targets damaged hair in just three uses! After showering, I apply Suave’s Coconut Oil Infusion Treatment which uses pure coconut oil to provide further moisture in my hair! I love these products because they are proven to work as well as luxury brands – for a fraction of the price! I picked up all three products at Walmart.
Step Two: Section Hair
After brushing your hair thoroughly, part your hair down the middle and create two sections of hair.
Step Two: Braid Section
Now it’s time to braid! Divide your first section of hair into three strands. Create a three strand brand, and add hair to the outermost strand to keep the braid situated along the outside of your head (towards your ear). Keep braiding until all your hair is incorporated and secure with an elastic. Repeat on the other side.
Step 3: Make Braid Fuller
For added volume, pull apart your braids by tugging on the edges! This will make your braids larger for a more edgy look!
Voila! Here is the final look. Not too difficult, right?! French braid pigtails are a cute look for work, dinner out or even lounging around the house! I am in love with them – you may see me rocking them more often!
