If there is one thing I love in this world, it’s a great bold lip. With little effort, a bold lip can make your makeup pop! I am long overdue for a makeup tutorial, so I thought I would share with y’all a drugstore makeup look featuring one of my new favorite lip colors! The best part of this makeup look is it is quick and easy for an on-the-go look! Keep reading to see how I accomplished this makeup look!
One of the best parts about my job is having the opportunity to try so many makeup and beauty products! This makeup look contains an assortment of new drugstore beauty finds. While I may be late to the party on some of the products, I hope to introduce you to at least one or two new products!
The Look: Pop of Color
#1 All About the Base
Summer is (basically) here, which means it’s more important than ever to protect your skin against harmful UV rays. I use a daily sunscreen as a base for my makeup. I’ve been loving Bare Republic’s Natural Mineral Sunscreen Face with SPF 30! I love how this sunscreen isn’t too heavy on my oily skin! The packaging is small enough I can stick it on my purse and re-apply as needed on-the-go!
#2 Conceal Baby!
After applying foundation, I used Sonia Kashuk Undercover Liquid Concealer to conceal my dark under eyes. At first, I didn’t think I would like the sponge applicator; however, I find it helps to apply on my face. To blend, I simply use my fingers. The product has impressive buildable coverage and staying power! I have been keeping this makeup tool handy in my purse for quick touch-ups!
Next, apply a highlighter on your cheekbones. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on the NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator for a while now. During my last visit to Target, I finally picked it up! While I typically use powder highlighters, the liquid illuminator has a lightweight formula that doesn’t leave me feeling greasy. I absolutely love this product!
#4 Power Brows Pt. I
Now it’s on to the brows! Use a brow pencil to create full brows. I used Sonia Kashuk’s Brow Definer in ‘Haze.’ I find it super tricky to find a brow pencil shade that complements both my complexion and hair color; however, the shade of this pencil is p-e-r-f-e-c-t-i-o-n! I apply small strokes to my brows to give them a fuller effect!
#5 Power Brows Pt. II
After using a pencil to fill in your brows, set them with a brow mascara. Otherwise known as brow gel, brow mascara secures your brows for a lasting look! For this makeup look, I used NYX’s Tinted Brow Mascara to tame and tint my brows! Both brow products are super compact and can be kept in your purse for touchups!
#6 ‘Pixi Dust’ Your Eyes
Next, laminate your eyes with shimmering eye shadows in the peach hue family. I adore using the Pixi Mesmerizing Mineral Palette to create a ‘fresh-faced’ makeup look. The mineral formula reflects light from your eyes, giving a mesmerizing ‘glow.’ Love it!
#7 Pump Up the Drama
Create a winged liner using your favorite black liquid liner! I’m constantly experimenting with new liquid liner formulas—and I’ve recently been addicted to NYX’s Vinyl Liquid Liner Eyeliner! The formula is downright amazing, and the extremely fine and flexible brush ensures a flawless winged liner!
#8 Create Doll Eyes
Lengthen and volumize your lashes using your favorite mascara. I used NYX’s Doll Eye Mascara Volume to extend and volumize my lashes. I am a super fan of this mascara’s feathery applicator! If you haven’t tried this mascara yet, you must!
#9 Go Bold or Go Home
Now for my favorite part—the bold lip! I am seriously taken aback by the gorgeous lipstick that is NYX Matte Lipstick in Shocking Pink! I have heard beauty gurus rave over this shade; however, it wasn’t until it was on my lips that I understood the veracity of this shade. This lipstick looks great with everything, and the blue undertones make your teeth look super white!
#10 Go Bold-er
To finish off my bold lip, I applied NYX’s Liquid Suede Lipstick in Pink Lust. Almost identical to NYX’s Matte Lipstick in Shocking Pink, this product takes your bold lip to the next level with a suede finish! Both lip products have impressive staying power, a perfect combination if you’re on-the-go!
