I’ll never forget the moment I fell in love with California. It was almost 3 years to the day. After an emotional breakup – I decided to pack my bags and jet set across the country with my girlfriends. Overlooking the skyline in Laguna beach, a wave of emotion splashed over me. My lungs filled with life for the first time in (what felt like) forever – and I instantly felt reborn. Reborn with a realization that I needed to let go and move forward into a new chapter of my life. As soon as I returned home I chronicled my SoCal adventures – and thus Mash Elle was born.
Since then, California has occupied a deep space in my heart. I try to visit as often as possible – and when Ashley Brooke and Diary of a Debutante mentioned the idea visiting California for Generation Beauty (a blogging conference), I was sold.
Generation Beauty provided the perfect excuse to jet set across the country. While this trip was intended to be a business trip, it ended up being a cleanse for our mind, body and souls. We were lucky enough to stay at the incredibly stunning Pacific Edge Hotel – with stunning being an understatement. Perched on the edge of Laguna Beach, we were spoiled with an unbeatable view. Just outside our windows we were greeted with the beauty of the pacific ocean – and a few feisty seagulls!
Pacific Edge Hotel has a cool California vibe – decorated with a mix of brilliant ocean hues and rustic sea detailing. We were greeted with a warm welcome from staff – and continuous hospitality throughout our stay. Can we talk about the view?! The oceanfront view was enough to take my breath away every morning. Pacific Edge Hotel has an incredibly calming aura that extends beyond the pacific waves. It serves as the perfect mind and body cleanse.

Pacific Edge Hotel pampers guests with dining on property – overlooking the ocean waves. Driftwood Kitchen offers a colorful selection of dishes – from land and sea. Ashley, Stephanie and I were so impressed with the food – we ended up dining 3 times during our stay. For breakfast, I would highly recommend the Laguna Beach omelette. Filled with dungeness crab and purple haze goat cheese this omelette is to die for. Stephanie swears by the granola crushed french toast (complete with caramelized hazelnut butter) so if you’re craving sweets it’s the way to go! For dinner please order the pan fried brussel sprouts appetizer. No seriously, these are the best brussel sprouts I’ve ever tasted. I have been craving brussel sprouts since! The butternut squash gnocchi was also phenomenal! As a butternut squash snob I was pleasantly surprised. Finally, the lobster spaghetti carbonara was unbelievably mouth watering – and the butcher steak and pork belly was a A+++++ in my books.
Ashley, Stephanie and I were so thankful to be hosted by such an amazing staff and would highly recommend the Pacific Edge Hotel to anyone looking for an oceanfront getaway. If you have accommodations but are searching for the perfect oceanfront brunch or sunset dining – make sure to stop by Driftwood Kitchen!
Looking back on these photos, I miss Laguna Beach deeply and remember why I fell in love with California so many years ago. I promise to be back soon – stay tuned! For more details on our California stay check out Ashley’s Laguna Beach Recap and Stephanie’s First Class Coastal Getaway Recap!
